That takes work inside your business to know what is going on today, as well as understanding what changing variable A or B will do to those numbers and metrics going forward.

Do you know which ones are important for the short as well as the long term success of your business? Some changes may be good in the short term, but detrimental for the long term health of your business, or vice versa. Do you know which are which in your business?
The best ones to change will have a positive impact in your business not only in the short term, but for the long term as well.

You need to know what the key drivers of your business are, and every business is unique in this endeavor. You need to look at all your current processes and procedures in your business and every step within those processes to really understand what is going on, and that just gets you to the starting point.
Once you have that knowledge of where you are today, then you can look into each of those processes to see if maybe there is some efficiency you can gain in a particular process.
Even small changes you make in a single process can have significant impact in your overall business and the profitability that you are seeing.
